Aitebaar ka Aaena Novel by Aleeha Zahid – Urdu Novel

Aitebaar ka Aaena by Aleeha Zahid is a 396‑page Urdu novel that blends romance, family dynamics, and emotional conflict. The story examines how trust can be broken and how characters cope with loss and betrayal.

Overview of the Plot

The narrative follows several interwoven lives. Central to the story is Ashmal, a young girl who loses her mother at nine years old. After her father, Zubair Riyaz Shah, remarries, he entrusts Ashmal’s care to her grandmother, Mrs. Shah. Ashmal feels like an extra presence in her own home, navigating loneliness and the search for belonging.

Parallel to Ashmal’s journey is the romance between Haider and Manahil, who are engaged. Their relationship provides a contrast to the themes of neglect and mistrust that run through the novel.

Main Characters

• Ashmal – a girl coping with early loss and a sense of isolation within her family.
• Zubair Riyaz Shah – Ashmal’s father, whose remarriage changes the household dynamics.
• Mrs. Shah – Ashmal’s grandmother, who becomes her primary caretaker.
• Manahil – Haider’s fiancée, part of the central romantic thread.
• Haider – engaged to Manahil, representing a hopeful counterpoint.
• Muskan (Thamia) – a girl dealing with difficulties imposed by her step‑mother.
• Noman – a character who loves Muskan, adding another layer of emotional tension.

Themes Explored

The novel delves into the harsh realities of trust and betrayal, especially within family settings. It does not aim for a fairy‑tale tone; instead, it presents characters who confront uncomfortable truths. The emotional tone is grounded in everyday struggles, making it relatable for readers who appreciate realistic storytelling.
